Keeping an Eye on Air Quality
Alaska is only a little more than halfway through its wildfire season, designated by state law as April 1 – Aug. 31. As we continue through the season, we want to share some air quality resources.
- Air Quality Advisories and Episodes: This map and list of air quality alerts is maintained by the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation’s Division of Air Quality.
- Wildfires: Information on steps you can take before, during, and after a fire is provided by AirNow, the U.S. Air Quality Index website.
- AirNow also provides a fire and smoke map in both a desktop version and a mobile app.
